From the initial idea to the roaring engine of innovation we are today, the journey of Applied Torque is nothing short of remarkable.
The beginning!
Do you remember your first home? So do we! Our initial Family Business began in a modest space, with a slow and steady approach in mind, this didn't last too long. After winning our first contract with British Steel (now Tata Steel), we hit the ground running.
At first, we provided Hydraulic and Pneumatic Process Control Installations during planned Shutdowns, then Maintenance and Repairs, then it turned to Emergency Breakdowns, and soon snowballed to 24hr Callouts. After a chance meeting, we dabbled in Torque and the rest as they say; is History.
Time to Employ.
We employed a Maintenance Technician, and Apprentice (who is still here 36 years later). Now we're up to 16 full time employed legends that make us who we are Today!
Six Moves & Countless Memories (which include opening a new Glasgow Branch)
We've packed and unpacked, moved, and grooved, a whopping six times! Imagine the number of boxes, tools, and - let's admit it - headaches. Each move wasn't just about a change of address; it symbolised our growth, our evolution, and our insatiable hunger for more. From that compact nook where it first began, today we spread our wings across two large units, echoing the dynamism and scale of our operations. Expansion wasn't just a business decision; it was a necessity, a response to the love and trust our clientele bestowed upon us. The growing demand, the thirst for precision Torque Tools, and the constant push towards excellence meant we had to up our game, and so we did. Growth was never just about space; it was about reaching more people, refining our craft, and redefining industry standards.

For starters, its strategic location offers easy access to the A470 and M4 corridor, we are conveniently located to the new Wales Metro line and Rail Electrification improvements. With a sprawling new Machine Shop area, there's more than enough room for all our Tools, Machines, Gadgets, and maybe a secret lab or two (just kidding...or are we?) Speaking of Tools, we now have enhanced facilities that elevate our Engineering & Machine Shop capabilities, not forgetting our new purpose built 435sq.ft Calibration Lab, (soon to be ISO 17025, but that’s for another Blog).
